Too Much Time – independent MUSE Circle – Luck – 2nd Grade

-----View in "Full-Screen Mode," and dance along!---(For Hi-res Video choose 1080p setting.)------ This is a favorite with school children! In every group there are players who love to lead and others who rather follow. In this game a group of Muses leads the dance simultaneously. Each Muse inspires two other dancers in her/his triangle. With each "Move" (Rotation Call) the Muses rotate clockwise on the Muse Circle into the next triangle on the Grid. In turn, each Muse will lead each triangle. All Co-dancers receive ideas from each of the Muses. As the Muses lead non-stop, they learn to keep their creative juices and energy moving and also to pace themselves. The other players don’t rotate or move on. They just follow loosely.

Good Work – Travelers Game – Gladysz – 2nd Grade

Good Work – Travelers Game – Gladysz – 2nd Grade

-----View in "Full-Screen Mode," and dance along!---(For Hi-res Video use 1080p setting.)------ There are three different roles to play in a TRAVELERS Game. Each Triangle has a Muse-Spot (Red) a Home-Base (Green) and a Traveler-Spot (Yellow). Upon the Call “Move” the Muses move clockwise on the Muse Circle into the next Triangle. The Home-Base player stays in place throughout the whole song and helps the other players find their spots. The Travelers move counterclockwise to the Traveler-Spot (Yellow) in the next Triangle. This game requires special attention, cooperation and sponsors creativity. It creates a new team of dancers every time a Move is called.

It’s My Turn Now – Independent MUSE Circle – Faatea – 4th Grade

It’s My Turn Now – Independent MUSE Circle – Faatea – 4th Grade

-----View in "Full-Screen Mode," and dance along!---(For Hi-res Video use 1080p setting.)------ A group of seven boys leads this dance, each inspiring one triangle at a time. When the Caller calls "Move," they advance to the Muse-spot on the next Triangle. Now they will present their moves to a new team. Each of the seven Muses learns greater creativity as they continue to explore new movement ideas throughout the entire song. The Co-dancers enjoy the variety of Muses. As they dance along from their "fixed" locations in their triangle, they always have the freedom to follow loosely or to create their own moves.

MDG • Bajo Un Mismo Sol - Winners' Camp teens in their first "All Triangles MUVE." This is a dancing game set up where every person in the game gets to rotate into the center spot to lead the whole group! Again the grid on the floor is made up of Triangles. After all players in the center triangle have rotated to the "MUSE" Spot (leading spot) the 3 people of each Triangle move to the next Triangle on the grid and a new group of 3 dancers take over the center Triangle and the "lead" for the whole group. Dancing along is always loose and spontaneous. The MUVERS pick up the basic dancing idea from the MUSE and make it their own by interpreting the dancing in their very personal style. I play this dance game towards the end of the workshop when the kids have gotten used to the basic ideas of inspiring each other. They have already led each other in the more "private" independent triangles set up, where they were just leading each other in groups of 3. Now the whole group is watching, and it can bring up some insecurities for the novice, who is now put before the eyes of everyone to procure a creative idea. Simple dance moves are the answer! MUVE dancing games are dancing workouts for people of all ages. You can easily set up this easy dance workout with your groups of seniors, your party guests or your school class. Mercy – Infinity Game

Mercy – Infinity Game

Pre-school teachers create movements inspired by the ideas of the MUVE Animations. You can download the "Animation-graphics" as a PDF, then print it out and start playing. Divide your group in pairs, line them up and divide them into two circles. It is not important to have even numbers. It's actually nice to end up with different partners each time to start down the line.

Creative Movement Dancing to “Born This Way” by Lady Gaga • Playful workouts for teenagers

How do you get a group of teens to dance exercise? Let them play! The MUVE Dancing Games (MDGs) provide simple game instructions to liven up any group at school, at home, or at a party. This MDG is called "Catwalk in Pairs." Two parallel lines on the ground create a runway. Couples parade down the middle, split up at the bottom and move back to the top on the sides, while cheering on the next couples. This game has elements of creative movement exploration and the beginnings of performance skills training. The kids in this dance video are campers from the Spring Winners Camp in Hawaii. Lady Gaga's "Born this way" gets the teens in the spirit for letting loose their "locomotor skills" ( walking, jumping, skipping...) and even "non-locomotor skills" (bending, turning swaying ...) Me Pregunto • MUVE is always spontaneous; a dance action never to be repeated in the same way again, always new and unpredictable. There is nothing that needs to be remembered but the flow and beat of the music. MUVE is a mind relaxing, fun activity for physical release and rejuvenation. And anyone can do this joyful dance. MUVE dancing is a social event. It's not a competition to be better, but to inspire each other. We have permission to move simply and enjoy harmony of music and body. Exercise is a side effect, because the music rouses our energies. Movement means muscles working. Music animates your body-parts. End result is a physical dance workout that feels like play. If you are comfortable in your body, you can experience a state of bliss. If you are not used to dancing you might feel stiff and inhibited at first. Try dancing along with easy basic MUVES (see http://www.muve.com/method.html for MUVE dancing instructions.) and see how easy dancing can be. It's really great fun for everyone. MUVE can be great dance exercises for elderly people, middle-aged people, teenagers, schoolchildren and little kids. Everyone can groove to the music in their own way. We learn movements from each other on the fly. A lead dancer in MUVE is called a "Muse." In this dance improvisation video, the dancers have created 3 individual Triangles. Each Triangle has one "Muse-spot" and two "following spots." As they rotate clockwise, another player gets to lead the spontaneous dance. The Muse demonstrates her/his MUVES while the others follow loosely. As you follow, you are encouraged to explore your own spin on the MUVES presented by the Muse. There is never a need to be perfectly in sync because we don't worry about how it looks to the bystander, but only how it feels to the dancers. You are free to create your own MUVES anytime during the dance. Check out the MUVE Video Blog http://www.muve.com/blog/ and dance along for free any time of the day! A Group Dancing Game is Exercise disguised as Play – Circular

A Group Dancing Game is Exercise disguised as Play – Circular

www.muve.com • This dance was created at a MUVE workshop for Girlfest 2010 in Honolulu, Hawaii. The dancers have lined up in a circle. One spot is marked on the ground as the "Muse" spot. The basic principle behind the MUVE dancing games (MDG) is, people inspiring each other by creating dance moves on the fly. The lead dancer is called the Muse. In this MUVEdance, the role of Muse is shared by all dancers. As they rotate clockwise another player gets to lead the improvised group dance. The Muse demonstrates her/his moves while the others follow loosely. As you follow, you are encouraged to explore your own spin on the moves presented by the "Muse." There is never a need to be perfectly in sync because we don't care about how it looks to the bystander, but only how it feels to the dancers. MUVE is not a performance, even though it can be presented to an audience. What makes it a MUVEdance, is the fact that it stays free from pre-engineered movements that call for mental concentration and perfection. MUVE is to be a fun activity for the reason of physical and mental enjoyment. And anyone can do this joyful dance. You are having fun playing together, and before you know it you actually got a workout done. These moves are great dance exercises for elderly people, middle-aged people, teenagers, school and little kids. Everyone can MUVE at their own pace. Check out the MUVE Video Blog http://www.muve.com/blog/ and dance along for free any time of the day! Song: Faster Kill Pussycat, by Paul Oakenfold

School Dancing Games foster Physical Activity and Creativity

School Dancing Games foster Physical Activity and Creativity

This video shows a large group of 3rd grade students engaged in a MUVE Dancing Game. All students are new to MUVE. At the start of the session they learned to danced along to several dances lead by Maggie and some of their more outgoing class mates. Now it is time to lead each other in independent triangles. Each little group has 3 dancers. Everyone gets to be the lead dancer (Muse) for their triangle. The student/Muse decides how long to stay on as the lead dancer. When ready he/she claps hands and initiates the little group to turn clockwise to the next marker, and a new student/Muse takes over the lead. This game is physically engaging, a real aerobic dance workout, and no one is left behind. It's like putting your whole class on automatic pilot. The teacher doesn't even have to instruct or dance along. Aside from the physical activity students learn to experiment creatively, inventing movements on the fly. There is also an aspect of social skill development in a MUVE Dancing Game. Students dance with different classmates each time. Children who might not normally "hang out" together now have a chance to connect in dance. MUVE Dancing Games are exercise routines for kids and stress relief activities for kids.Childhood obesity has reached epidemic proportions in the United States. The physical, mental and social benefits of regular physical activity for youth are well documented. Along with physical education classes, students need physical activity opportunities throughout the school day. MUVE Dancing Games (MGDs) provide inspiration and motivations to students of all ages and physical shapes. MUVE dancing is a physical activity opportunity that meets the needs and abilities of most students, including children with disabilities and those who are overweight. MUVE dancing energizes large groups physically and creatively. It activates in a non-competitive way. The focus is on releasing physical inhibitions and sharing ones creative movement ideas with others. Find out more about MUVE Dancing Games at www.muve.com

Just Dance Workout to Lady Gaga – Cardio Funk Disco Dance Moves

Maggie is creating workouts for teenagers and young adults. This dance workout video it's full of simple dance moves that anyone can dance along to. However, you might want to pace yourself, we are entering aerobic dancing territory! The young adults you are seeing here in this dance improvisation workshop are loosely following the lead dancer (MUSE) in the center. Take a deep breath and jump in! It's a great stress buster! -- For this, the second dance of the workshop, Maggie asked for volunteers to help her lead the group. So two participants get their first taste of being a Muse. All others dance along loosely. They are instructed to turn within their own triangles each time the Muses turn. This prepares them for the next step, the Multiple Triangles Dancing Game, where they all will be leading the dance within their individual triangles.

www.muve.com A Group Dancing Game at a Winners' Camp staff workshop, 8/2010. This spontaneous dance video demonstrates how much fun a large group of people can have with a stack of paper plates. Toys are often used in MUVE Dancing Games (MDGs) to ignite creative play. Having two plates in your hands shifts the focus from thinking to playing. This super lively improvised dance is an "independent TRIANGLES Dancing Game." All players have formed groups of three, and each triangle has it's own "Muse," as we call the lead dancer in MUVE. Independent means that the inspiration comes from within the each triangle, and not from a singular, central Muse-spot, which is common in many MUVE dances. All triangles are continuously rotating, and everyone gets to be the lead-dancer (Muse) for as long as they choose to. Being a dance leader to just two other dancers is less intimidating for the novice. All dancers in this games are new to MUVE, which proves the point that you do not need to be prepared to do a MUVE-dance, just willing to let loose and have fun with your friends at home, in school or anywhere you can find a dance floor. MGDs are great disco party games, a wonderful way to connect with friends and loved ones in an easy cardio workout that is full of fun, excitement, creativity and community. We Got The Party- Multiple Triangle Dancing Game

Three groups of 3 dancers demonstrate at the Senior Expo 2010, how a simple set-up with markers on the ground can animate any group of willing participants. NO practice or rehearsals are necessary because a MUVE dance is always spontaneously created. This is an easy way to get motivated to get in shape at home with your own family. Try it out with your kids. They can use the exercise as a break from their many hours of sedentary fun at computer games and television. And you can probably use some invigorating movements too. Chances are you don’t give yourself enough time to play. Dancing games relax your mind and invigorate your body – they are a healthy physical activity that doesn’t cost you a penny. As you can see 4 and 84 years olds can play this dancing game together. Play it with your guest at your next party!

Molina – Circular Dancing Game

Molina – Circular Dancing Game

This MUVE Dancing Game is called "Circle" for the simple reason that the "Muse-Spot" is marked on a circle created by the dancers. Whoever lands on it is the Muse. This video was part of the "classic rock" shoot of May 2008. It might actually be the very first MUVE Dancing Game ever, come to think of it.

This shows one of our first attempts at a dancing game. Here we rotate onto the front "Muse-Spot" in a circular fashion. If you were playing this without an audience/camera, all dancers should face to the center of the circle.

This MATRIX MUVE Dancing Game shows 5 dancers taking turns to lead. You can download the detailed instruction with the link below. In this set-up two triangles are created with the Muse-spot the middle. This is one of my favorite games because you never know when you'll be up next. It's always surprising how quickly a dancing game will get your energies flowing.

Acoustic Swing- Dancing Game

Acoustic Swing- Dancing Game

November 2009 - This is a TRIANGLE 5 Dancing Game. Three dancers in the middle take turns leading. Even small children can dance as a Muse. Whenever they loose concentrations, call a rotation within the center Muse-triangle ("Huli-Huli"), and move a "fresh" Muse into the lead. This dance also demonstrates a "switch." After each of the three Muses had a chance to lead, I "called a switch" for the outside positions. This rotates two new Muses (lead dancers) into the triangle.
