A creative and improvised dance style
MUVE is harmonizing to music with one’s body. The MUVE dancer steps and accentuates in time with the rhythm of the music. The movements are not choreographed ahead of time, but created in the moment.
A form of exercise
MUVE can be gentle dance to relax a tired or tense body. It can also be a highly energetic cardiovascular workout. MUVE has the benefits of weight-bearing exercise, and improves flexibility and stamina. It also supports weight management.
A community experience
MUVE brings together young and old. 3, 53 and 93 year olds can enjoy dancing together, each at their own energy and fitness level. MUVE can bring families, friends or co-workers together for exercise and quality time. MUVE Dancing Games can entertain groups in the spur of the moment.
A physical healing modality
MUVE can heal some of the body’s aches and pains, resulting from bad posture and sedentary lifestyle. It can help one recuperate after a physical injury, when movement is recommended. MUVE benefits the body’s circulatory, respiratory, lymphatic, muscular and nervous systems.
An emotional release
Unbridled dance is a shortcut to happiness. Harmoniously connecting to music quiets excessive mind activity. MUVE is an enjoyable physical activity. It therefore, promotes feelings of well-being, and improves one’s outlook on life.
The MUVE Method empowers people to dance.
The MUVE Method teaches 10 Principles. They explain the philosophical roots of MUVE and the mindset of a MUVE dancer.
MUVE does not require choreography. One cannot do it incorrectly. You learn to MUVE by dancing along to a lead dancer, called the “MUSE.” The MUSE creates easy to follow movements, based on a system of three very “basic” MUVES.
The three basic movements of MUVE dancing are WALK, TAP and ROOT. These “Basic MUVES” are the elementary building blocks of any dance.
MUVE dance videos use graphic icons to display these Basic MUVES on the bottom corner of the screen continually. This informs the student dancer, which of the Basic MUVES is being danced by the MUSE at any given moment.
Other instructions and reminders are communicated by colorful animated graphics. This keeps the sound track free of verbal cues, for the pure enjoyment of the music.
Because a MUVE dance is always created spontaneously, one cannot follow along precisely. MUVE dancers follow loosely. You are also encouraged to follow your own creative spirit at any time.

Children of all ages
Children of all ages have fun with MUVE. They develop their dance skills, creativity, and confidence. MUVE is a healthy break from sitting at the computer, TV, or playing video games. Our youngest MUVER, Allen, is 3 years old, and loves to be the “MUSE” and lead the dance.
Seniors
Seniors can safely MUVE to increase flexibility and to improve their overall health. MUVE is a great way to dance away aches and pains and stay physically active. The MUVE Method accommodates different physical abilities. Our oldest MUVER is 94 years old.
Adults who need more exercise
MUVE provides the under-exercised with a fun way to get more active and healthy. MUVE releases stress and energizes. It’s simple enough that exercisers feel successful right away. MUVE is an enjoyable experience to look forward to, not a chore to be done.
Parents
With MUVE, families can exercise and spend entertaining quality time together. Parents enjoy the energizing workout and can release tension, while children constructively use some of their abundant energy.
People with desk jobs and other sedentary occupations
Many jobs in our modern society are devoid of physical activity.
