Since my earliest childhood I've loved to dance. I would regularly clear the living room and start flying from the sofa to the easy chair and everywhere in between. At eighteen I started to study dance at an art commune in Austria. Painting, making music, singing and dancing were the arts of choice. Over the next ten years we developed a dance based on the swing rhythm. It was danced in couples or as "single-performance". Basis was the free interpretation of the rhythm. When danced in couples, one of the partners would lead. Partners were changed after each tune to give everybody the chance to experience and learn from others. Every night we would meet for 2-3 hours of dance; the most fun hours of the day for me. Because we had a steady stream of visitors who wanted to get in on the dance craze, and fellow members who wanted to learn new moves, we started to teach classes. Teaching gave me the opportunity to dissect and study what we were doing, to make learning easier and faster.

When I left the commune in 1986, I saw no immediate chance for making a living as a dancer. Having dropped out of school when moving into the commune ten years earlier, didn't help matters. The next years were filled with plenty of new experiences. I got my feet on the ground through sales and then returned to college for a degree in advertising arts.

Although my major focus shifted to the visual arts, my big love for dancing has always stayed with me – dancing at every opportunity. In 1998, while working as a senior art director at a big advertising agency and feeling the pain of sitting in front of a computer all day, I developed Muve® in my living room. Because it's always more fun to dance in company the idea of offering classes and creating the muve dance company came about.

I live very happily with my dog Kayla and ZeeZee the cat in Honolulu, Hawaii. I run my own design company, creating anything from brochures, logos and ads to websites. And I am also a retailer for japanese outdoor products (carports, lanai-covers, gates & fences). Check out my site for these products at www.jet-outdoors.com.

Muve® keeps me happy and in shape. It is helping me make new friends wherever I go. I want to inspire people to dance in their houses, in class or where ever they can find the rhythm.
