How is it done?
Muve is improvisational but structured. The structure is an under-lying grid of
positions, poses, muves and gears. Working with the structure ensures that you
will move all your bodyparts in a multitude of ways without limiting yourself
to a rigid routine.
Start by putting
your body on a position (laying, sitting, standing). From this "point of
departure" you then let your bodyparts explore the possibilities by adding
movement.
|
|
|
Take
your time.
Start with a "Basic" (a small almost effortless movement). Connect yourself
to the music and tune out other distractions like worries or busy thoughts.
Feel
your body and let go. Observe the movements your body creates, not your controlling
mind. Do not worry about "doing it right". Explore rhythm and space.
Change position when you get hungry for something new. Alternate gears (intensity)
as it fits your body as it feels today.
|
|
 |
The main
positions are:
Standing (on feet or hands or both)
Sitting (on floor or object)
Laying (front, side, back)
Any other position you can dream up
Alternating
positions helps you find muves you might otherwise not discover. From each position
you explore which bodypart can move which way.

The Basic
A Basic is
a simple, continuous movement. For example: You are waiting at a crosswalk,
headphones on your ears, you are swaying from one foot to the other in rhythm
you are doing a basic. Relax into a movement, carried by the rhythm.
It's like locomotion, little effort, continous motion. You can do a basic
for a very long time and not get tired. It's best to close your eyes and
take the music inside, relax and see what your body will do.

The Muves
A muve is a
loose pattern of movement, it repeats itself or alters its shape continuously.
- It exists in a basic form like a walk or a sway, it involves any or all
bodyparts. There are endless possibilities and therefore, an unlimited amount
of moves. Although it is wonderful to have a hand full of great moves that
you do comfortably, expanding your moves is like capturing new dimensions.
There is no reason why you shouldn't be able to discover a plethora of muves
by exploring on your own. A muve class or video will lend inspiration and
offer new ideas. You choose low or high impact moves depending on your body's
needs and capabilities.

Resting
Poses
A
pose is a body-position without movement. A pose helps you relax, meditate,
feel the music flow through your body, and appreciate it. Poses are yoga-like.
A pose is determined by what your body wants to do, rather than what your
brain thinks it should do. A muve pose is often a gentle stretch that feels
great; nothing is forced, and everything is supported by natural gravity.
The duration of a pose depends on you: hold it as long as it feels good!

Muve
Gear-Intervals
Alternate between
rest and high activity levels (interval training). The energy you put into your
Muve determines what kind of workout you are getting.
Muve has five intensity-levels which are mixed and shuffled in intervals.
Gear 0: no movement/neutral Resting Poses
Gear 1: Slow motion
Gear 2: Low impact soft but high energy
Gear 3: High energy
Gear 4: Overdrive/Extasy

Little Muves
It's good to be be slow! The Little muves are small and soft movements
that you give all your attention. Little muves help you examine your different
body parts and explore what they do, so that you can get to know them individually.
You'll find out which ones are weak or injured, and you'll learn how to reinvigorate
them.
|
|
 |
Overdrive
The basic is giving you a relaxed "point of departure".
Now you are adding variations in your muve, you add the arms, the neck, the hip.
Go explore! Your basic might turn into a skip or a jump and before you know it
your are flying through the room. You conquer the available space. You add speed,
and you are in overdrive.
Start slow and
build up to a high-energy cardiovascular work-out. When you get tired, down-shift
to a lower gear. The music is specially selected to support high or low activity
levels.

Muve is
very Personal
Muve is for bodies of all shapes, ages and sizes and ranges from
complete stillness to highly energetic dance. The number one rule is to be in
constant touch with your body. That means listening to it when it enjoys itself
but also when it starts complaining. As all our bodies are different in age and
physical shape, there can't be "one way fits all" in muve. You will
learn to customize each muve for yourself. Every muve has to feel good; there
is no force involved. Muve means muving to music. You can do that lying on your
back and wiggling your toes and you can do it thrusting out every limb in an outbreak
of ecstacy.
